How the Newly Reimagined Venue Will Educate on the Future of Farming

Over the past year, Farm Country has been undergoing a transformation to completely reimagine the space. Curiosity Farms goes beyond being a traditional farm; it’s a gateway to exploring Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) through hands-on, engaging activities. With STEM learning at the forefront, the new Curiosity Farms will help grow curious, confident, and compassionate kids. We are so excited to open this new venue at Thanksgiving Point this fall! Read below for information on all the changes that are happening at the farm.

A Blend of Old and New

Curiosity Farms will combine traditional and modern farming practices to teach kids and adults about advancements in agriculture. Guests will have the chance to learn and participate in a variety of agricultural sciences. This includes grow pod and hydroponic gardening, genetic science, soil science, and more. You’ll see the complexity and innovation behind farming at Curiosity Farms.

Agricultural Innovation

Curiosity Farms will help visitors understand how farmers are true innovators. They advance science and develop technology to improve global food security. Our programs will cover a wide range of topics, including animal care and urban farming. You’ll even learn how to try some of these practices at home!

We want to help guests understand where their food comes from. See how farmers are innovators, technologists, and scientists while gaining a greater appreciation for the hard work and creativity that goes into food production.

New Exhibits at Curiosity Farms

Saddle Up Stables 

Learn about different types of ponies and horses and how they meet various farming needs. Discover the evolution of horse breeds and appreciate their unique differences. This exhibit will also include three pony walking carousels, a guided pony riding path, and a tack room to learn more about the equipment we use for our horses.

Play Patch Playground 

This inclusive, farm-themed playground will engage kids of all abilities. Thrilling slides, challenging climbers, and engaging sensory activities will stimulate the brain. Curiosity Farms is dedicated to accessibility, providing transfer points throughout the playground and a We Go Swing that is accessible for wheelchairs and other devices. This playground ensures fun for everyone!

Urban Gardens

Explore modern gardening techniques that don’t need large plots of land. Urban Gardening highlights innovative methods, like hydroponics, that allow crops to produce large yields in small spaces. In the Urban Garden building, Thanksgiving Point will also offer a daily activity called “Plant Lab,” where you and your family can enter the grow pods and help plant, seed, grow, and harvest crops from these high-tech farm units. This exhibit showcases the future of food production.

Innovation Station

See the latest in agricultural technology at the Innovation Station. Ever wonder how drones can be used to pollinate crops, or how robots can be used as extra farm hands? This exhibit will highlight the cutting-edge technology being introduced to farms around the world. Guests can interact with hands-on displays and learn how this technology supports modern farming.

 

Curiosity Farms isn’t just a place to pet cute farm animals and learn about growing food. It’s a gateway to exploring Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) in a hands-on, engaging way.
