Mountain America Museum of Ancient Life

Travel back in time and explore what life was like over 65 million years ago in the Mountain America Museum of Ancient Life! With 60 complete dinosaur skeletons, this museum has one of the world’s largest displays of mounted dinosaurs right here in Lehi, Utah! More than 50 hands-on exhibits, like the Erosion Table and the Quarry Dig, make it easy to interact with prehistory. You can even watch our paleontologists and volunteers unearth a 150-million-year-old Barosaurus. Whether you come by day or night, the Museum of Ancient Life is a lively adventure you’ll never forget. With so much to explore and interact with, it’s one of the best dinosaur museums in Utah.

Step into Need for Speed, the newest chapter of Jurassic Hall, and discover what made these incredible predators some of the most successful hunters of their time.

Explore authentic dinosaur fossils, investigate how paleontologists uncover clues from the past, compare dinosaur teeth with magnifiers, create your own paleoart, and experience digital exhibits that bring Jurassic hunters to life through movement, sound, and animation.

Along the way, you’ll encounter remarkable Jurassic predators, including the world’s only known Tanycolagreus, a remarkably complete adult Allosaurus, and a newly arrived Ceratosaurus.

Every experience invites you to observe evidence, ask questions, and think like a scientist as you discover how these incredible animals evolved to survive millions of years ago.

Whether you’re a lifelong dinosaur enthusiast or discovering Jurassic predators for the first time, Jurassic Hall offers an unforgettable adventure filled with curiosity, exploration, and hands-on learning.

Dino Quest

Join a Paleontologist on an epic adventure to find and recover dinosaur bones. Embark on a quest to solve the mystery of how a fossil gets from dirt to the paleo lab.

Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 12:30 

$8 per person (price includes a take home paleontology kit in a muslin bag with a brush, a wooden hammer, a sticker, and a field notebook & pencil)

1. The Search: Junior paleontologists will journey to a hidden fossil site and learn how scientists use clues in nature to search for dinosaurs.

2. The Discovery: At the “Field Base,” a paleontologist will go over clues about what they will look for. They will learn that finding a dinosaur isn’t luck; it’s about reading the rocks.

3. The Toolkit: Inside the gallery of giants, participants will use paleontology tools to dig, brush, and uncover fossil clues.

4. The Plaster Jacket: The team will create a pretend plaster jacket to protect the fossil and carry it back to the “Field Base.”

5. The Big Reveal: Back at the “Field Base,” participants will assemble the Allosaurus foot bones and reveal the fossil before receiving their Junior Paleontologist Toolkit.

PALEO STUDIO AND GEODE CRACKING

PALEO STUDio

Ever wondered what it was like to clean and prepare a real fossil? At the Paleo Studio, you’ll use the same tools as real paleontologists to excavate a fossil from the Eocene Era. You’ll be the first human to handle this fossil and will even get to take your specimen home with you. Dig in to the world of paleontology, only at the Mountain America Museum of Ancient Life

GEODE CRACKING

Time to get cracking! Now at the Mountain America Museum of Ancient Life, you can take your very own geode, containing a mystery crystal, home with you! Just pick whatever geode calls out to you, head over to our geode cracking machine, and split it open for a one-of-a-kind souvenir.
