The Story Behind Ashton Gardens
Long before Ashton Gardens became one of the most visited gardens in Utah, the land looked very different.
What is now a lush 50-acre garden oasis in the middle of Lehi once began as open farmland and undeveloped property. In the mid-1990s, Thanksgiving Point founder Alan Ashton and his wife Karen Ashton dreamed of creating a space where families could connect with nature, beauty, learning, and each other.
When Ashton Gardens officially opened in 1997, the vision was to create a world-class garden experience in Utah County — one that would continue to grow and evolve over time. Nearly three decades later, the gardens have become one of Utah’s most beloved destinations, welcoming guests through every season with millions of flowers, waterfalls, themed spaces, and unforgettable events.
Many of the roses blooming during Rose Month today have been part of the gardens since those very first years, making them a living piece of Ashton Gardens history.
Thousands of Roses in Peak Bloom
Every June, the Rose Garden at Ashton Gardens reaches peak bloom, creating an unforgettable experience for guests of all ages.
Climbing roses weave over arches and trellises while vibrant blooms line the pathways in every shade imaginable. Around every corner, guests will discover new colors, textures, fragrances, and varieties that make the gardens feel completely different throughout the month.
Their continued beauty is a reflection of the incredible care and dedication of the Thanksgiving Point horticulture team who work year-round to maintain one of the most stunning rose displays in Utah.
If roses are on your summer bucket list, June is the month to visit Ashton Gardens.
