The Tulip Festival at Thanksgiving Point is one of Utah’s most iconic spring events, bringing hundreds of thousands of guests to admire over 900,000 blooming tulips across the stunning 50-acre Ashton Gardens. But what happens to the gardens after the festival ends?

Here’s a peek behind the scenes at what our amazing garden team does once the Tulip Festival wraps up—and how you can take a piece of it home with you!

Saying Goodbye to the Tulips

As soon as the Tulip Festival ends in mid-May, our dedicated garden crew and incredible volunteers begin the massive task of removing every tulip bulb from the gardens. It takes several days to clear the 50 acres of tulip beds, carefully pulling out bulbs to prepare for the next season’s plantings.

The Annual Tulip Bulb Sale

Don’t worry—these tulips don’t go to waste! Around the end of May, we host our Annual Tulip Bulb Sale at the Ashton Gardens Greenhouse. This is your chance to bring a bit of the Tulip Festival home.

Our Guest Services team and amazing volunteers are on hand to help you plan how and when to plant your tulips. You can create your own mini Tulip Festival at home – bringing a little color and fun to your backyard!

What We Keep and What We Replant

While our tulip bulbs are pulled and sold to the public, we do keep and reuse other spring bulbs for next year’s displays. Varieties like hyacinths, fritillaria, and daffodils are stored and replanted in the fall to bring another season of early spring color.

However, our fresh tulips are imported annually from Holland, ensuring that each year’s Tulip Festival is more breathtaking than the last. This global partnership allows us to deliver stunning new color combinations and rare varieties every year.

A Huge Thank You

From our horticulture team to our passionate volunteers and guests—thank you for making this year’s Tulip Festival unforgettable. Your support helps us maintain one of Utah’s most beautiful outdoor spaces.

We hope to see you again at the Tulip Bulb Sale and back next spring for the 2026 Tulip Festival, blooming brighter than ever!
